As somebody rather new to tactical pistol shooting (I have spent most of my time with a carbine) this book is a great starting point. The easy to read instructions regarding technique coupled with the clear photographic representations of each lesson make each concept easy to grasp. Furthermore, the book goes onto more difficult scenarios that a tactical shooter must address, plan for, and practice to be successful in a real life scenario. Worth the read for sure.
However, if you have passed that stage and are looking for techniques of a tactical nature (house clearing, unorthodox shooting positions, timing, etc). In reading the previous reviews, I had an idea this would be a back to basics book, but the name implied that there was something more.tactics. you may wish to look elsewhere. The material contained in this book is great for the absolute beginner with the handgun. The author utilizes some time-tried methods and mindset techniques which should be taught to all that own a gun. This book does not cover those areas (although it does talk about low-light situations). It is still a good read, but don't be misled on this one.
However, I must add that I plan on taking one of his courses as soon as I can afford it. Just check out the professional training courses that he offers and his top-rate products from Blackheart International and you know you're getting the real deal.
I read and have owned Massad Ayoobs's Guns Digest of Combat Handgunning and along with this book, I've learned a lot. I'm new to pistol shooting, but from what I've been learning this book appears to be an excellent resource.
Lawrence and his training site is now located. Naturally, everything I read initially will be helpful, but this appears to be no-bs, straight to the drills training material.
I'm also very fortunate to live in the same town that Mr. (No I'm not paid or affiliated with him or his company).
In the very least you may learn one life saving tip from his book and that alone is worth the money and time for this.
it's a good book for learning basic shooting tactics. after you read this book, you'll have to go to the range and try some things out for yourself. i recommended for anyone trying to sharpen their shooting skills.
It seems as though every time I open the book again, I find something new to try out. This book is one of the most read on my shelf. Whenever I have free time, I go out into my own personal training center in my backyard and apply the principles that I gained from reading this fine book. Get out of my way people, I am trained and dangerous. If you want to really rock with a pistol, then this is your book.
